Revisiting Requirement Analysis in Product Life Cycle of Software Product
(1) Universitas Ma Chung, Indonesia
AbstractProduct life cycle is a product journey from its start until its ending which has four stage: introduction, growth, mature and decline stage. While some products can have everlasting age, others step into decline stage, especially for software product. In software product development, should considering requirement engineering to survive. Requirement analysis mostly done in introduction stage, but it must be done in introduction, growth and most important, mature stage. Therefore, this research tries to analyze what should vendors do for its requirement analysis. The result suggests how can properly requirement analysis implemented; so, it can avoid decline stage like what happened with Path, Yahoo Messenger and BBM. It is concluded that requirement analysis is not only the job of software developer and system analyst in software product development, but also become job function and responsibility for marketing department in its effort saving their product falling to decline stage.
